Half Day Manual Handling Training Course

More than a third of all reported "over 3 day injuries" are caused by manual handling. An estimated 12.3 million working days are lost each day to work related Musculoskeletal Disorders. This has been identified as a Health and Safety priority. It also makes economic sense to minimise or eliminate the problems and days lost to poor manual handling.

DETAILS of the Manual Handling Training Course

Manual_Handling_Training_exampleThe Astley Hire Manual Handling Training Course helps employers to comply with Section 2 of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and regulations 10 and 13 of the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 that requires employers to provide their employees with health and safety information and training. The training ensures that those involved with Manual Handling are trained in the best practices and are aware of the associated safety issues.

 

The objective of the course is to enable trainees to understand and effectively comply with the relevant legislation and regulations. They will be trained to understand:

Successful trainees will receive a Certificate and a Photo Card, valid for 5 years, accredited by Astley Hire. This can be used as proof they have been trained in the principles and practices of basic Manual Handling.

All delegates will receive a copy of the course content and notes.

Instruction based on: Guidance given in the Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992. Training course content and structure involving theory, exercises and assessment as recommended by the HSE.

Course Times: AM or PM, times to be agreed at booking (Saturday bookings can be arranged)

Number of Trainees: Minimum 3 persons, maximum 12 (Call us if you can’t meet the minimum or a suitable date with places available isn't on the calendar.)

  4. Principles of Safety Lifting-Techniques
  5. Risk Assessment Guidelines
  6. Team Lifting
  7. Mechanical Aids/PPE

Trainee Requirements:

PPE is not required

No qualifications or experience are required for this course.

However, literacy and language comprehension are important requirements for personnel who made be required to comprehend important instructions etc. in the course of their work.

If delegates have any problems with literacy or language comprehension, they should bring them to the attention of their employer. This need not preclude them successfully completing the course. But it is advisable for their employer to conduct an assessment and to put into place adequate measures, to take account of any difficulties they may have.

These requires that employers provide their employees with adequate information, instruction and training. The training ensures that those involved with the use of abrasive wheels on portable or fixed grinding machines are trained in the best practices and are aware of the associated safety issues.

The objective of the Abrasive Wheel Course is to enable trainees to understand and effectively comply with the relevant legislation and regulations. They will be trained to understand how to safely select, mount and use abrasive wheels

Abrasive Wheel Training Course Contents

Successful trainees will receive a Certificate and a Photo Card, valid for 5 years, accredited by Astley Hire. This can be used as proof they have been trained in the principles and safe work practices relating to abrasive wheels.

All delegates will receive a copy of the course content and notes.

Instruction based on: Guidance given by the Health and Safety Executive (document HSG17) and requirements of PUWER. Training course content and structure involving theory, exercises and assessment as recommended by the HSE.

Venue: Astley Hire Ltd, Head Office, Lloyd Court, Units 1-7 Jury Street, Leigh, Lancashire. We can also conduct training at your premises or on site. View the Abrasive Wheel Training Centre location. Being close to Manchester the centre is easy to get to from anywhere in the NorthWest.
