The Mobile Cherry Picker Training Course covers all types of self propelled work platforms where the basket can be articulated horizontally on a boom. These machines are commonly called "Cherry Pickers". The training is dedicated to this type of self propelled cherry picker and does not cover static boom work platforms or scissor lifts . Combined training courses are available that cover various categories of machine.

One Day Course on the Safe Use & Operation of Mobile Boom Work Platforms
(IPAF category 3b), Cherry Pickers

IPAF 1b Cherry Picker Training Course

The IPAF Training Course enables employers to comply with the "Working at Height Regulations 2005" (WAHR 05), Health & Safety at Work etc Act 1974 Sect 2 and Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 Regulation 9. The training ensures that those working with mobile boom lifts / cherry pickers are trained and competent. It also helps operators to work more efficiently and productively.

IPAF PAL CardSuccessful trainees will receive a PAL (Powered Access Licence), valid for 5 years.
The PAL card details the IPAF category 3b type of cherry picker the holder has been trained to operate.

Venue: Astley Hire Ltd, Head Office, Lloyd Court, Units 1-7 Jury Street, Leigh, Lancashire. We can also conduct training at your premises or on site. View the IPAF Training Centre location. Being close to Manchester the centre is easy to get to from anywhere in the NorthWest.

On-Site training is available. (Please read the on-site IPAF training guide)

Course Times: 8.00am to 5.00pm (Alternative times can be arranged including Saturdays)

Number of Trainees: Minimum 3 persons, maximum 6 (Call us if you can’t meet the minimum or a suitable date with places available isn't on the calendar.)

Course Contents:
1. Health & Safety at Work Act 1974.
2. Safe Operations and limitations of use.
3. Introduction to Mobile Elevated Work Platforms.
4. Introduction to specific machines.
5. Major component identification.
6. Starting / stopping the machine procedures.
7. Pre use function checks.
8. Check prior to road travel (self propelled & trailer mounts).
9. Site condition and route planning.
10. Traveling the route and manoeuvring.
11. Setting the machine for work.
12. Basic operational practice including typical work applications.
13. Correct parking procedures.
14. Achievement testing / practical and verbal.
15. Course review and questionnaire

Trainee Requirements:
1. Personal details including: Home Address, Date of Birth
2. Copies of Certificates for Safety Awareness (if required)
3. Company Confirmation of all Aerial Work Platforms work experience (if required)
4. PPE, Casual for Theory and Overalls for Practical
5. Hard Hat/Safety Shoes or Boots
6. IF RENEWAL old Licence and Log Book
